More terrains for the table

It been awhile since i have posted anything on this blog. I have been working on my necron warrior and the eldar vehicle for the past 2 month. But i had this sudden urge to make some terrains. So i came up with these. I currently need to coat them with a layer of filler mix with white glue.

Im still cutting a few more at the moment.. making at  least 12bases of terrain. Should be sufficient to fit a 6x4 table. I will post any updates later.

What did you use for the basing material? MDF? Tough to see in these pics.

Nice that you're doing terrain- looking forward to seeing painted pics!

Me too ... can't wait to see how the terrain turns out. Nicely sculpted so far.

i use hard board, it about 5mm that all i had available to use as base.. my concern is the material to use to cover the foam. dont want it to melt when i spay it. Any tip.

All i can think of is white glue mix with filler and water. Any other suggestion

I think a mix of white glue and water should be enough, but leave some small areas exposed on the edges. The melted parts should give your rocks a more natural look.

Not spraying too close or too thick could also prevent the melting.

You can consider paper clay.. but it's kinda costly if go for large project such as yours...

After some google, I guess polyfilla and white glue should work, give it a go man

thks for the tips. I will try out on a small piece first and see how it goes.

@ vuel- using white glue and water alone.. dont you still need the filler.

@limp- partly yes, but im just building these terrain so it can be use any where.. be it alvin or legio...should we need more terrain.

If it were me, I'd use putty filler with some PVA mixed in to prevent cracking. If you're going to use spray cans, cover 100% of the foam with that mixture, esp. since it's low density and prone to chipping/damage. I'd also suggest play sand glued down on the flat surfaces with some smaller stones to break things up.

Looking forward to seeing your progress dude

@deathkorp- i notice there are 2 type of filler on with the yellow cover the other with a blue cover. I bough the one withthe yellow cover. so which should i use.. because the blue one has a rubbery kind of texture if im not wrong.

honestly I haven't done any styrofoam works on this large scale..so, consider deathkorps' advise instead of mine..

looking forward to see the end result :)
